Spring Term

In the first part of the term we looked at Living and Learning in Lowestoft. It was really interesting to find out about our town and community which is really important to us.  We found out about our school and met Mrs Clarke in her office. We talked about our addresses and where we lived. We visited the local shop and bought some sweets. We found out about things like the bridge in Lowestoft and looked at and built lots of bridges.

Summer Term

We have been exploring  Light and Dark this half term. We began by thinking of all the things we already knew about light and dark and night and day and talked about the things we wanted to find out.

We investigated nocturnal animals like owls and bats and hedgehogs and found out information about them through videos and books. We pretended to be bats and hang upside down in the daytime. We thought about the different things we do in the day and night and found out about the moon and stars and planets. We explored Vincent Van Gogh's painting 'The Starry Night' and found ways to represent it and we also explored shadows and silhouettes. It was a very interesting Half Term.
