Reception: Robins

Welcome to Reception: Robins!

Welcome to our class page.  Miss Field is the Robins class teacher.

We are lucky to have some great adults working with us; including Miss Nelson and Miss Lancaster.

Tapestry

In Robins we use electronic learning journals allowing us to evidence each child's progression and achievements throughout the year. Tapestry is a valuable resource we have within our school allowing families to share their experiences with us and for families to be involved within their child's education.

Summer

Our topic for this term is 'When I grow up what will I be?' Within this topic we will be curious learners, exploring a range of professions and their job roles. We will be particularly focusing on people within the community that help us.

For our sparkling start this half-term we had a visit from Ann the Road Safety Specialist. It was brilliant to practice crossing the road safely with our friends!

From this experience we created our own road safety videos and instruction to teach Nursery.

This half term we also had a visit from a Community PCSO which allowed the children ask questions and develop an understanding of the skills they will need to be a police officer!

We recreated roles in our Police station and created 999 posters to highlight how important the police are within our community.

To get next new half-term off to a sparkling start we are going Berry Farm in Beccles to explore the world around us! We will be picking our own veg and visiting the animals when we are there! The children are very excited!

Spring

Our topics for this term is exploring 'Colour Mixing' developing onto 'The Growing World Around Us'. These topics will be develop with your child's interest and many colourful experiences.

We started our topic with a fabulous performance by the Dayglo Puppets. We enjoyed watching the UV puppet show and were amazed at the variety of puppets we saw.

From this experience it has inspired Robins to want to create their own puppet show. Robins enjoyed creating their own puppets and performing their puppet show to their family and friends at the end of the half-term.

We started this half-term topic with creating and planting our own cress heads to observe over time.

We then cut our cress heads and made delicious sandwiches using our cress as part of the filling. THEY WERE TASTY!

We finished off the term with a trip to Benacre Farm Estate in Beccles to explore the world around us. We had a brilliant sunny day doing a range of activities; pond dipping, den building, bug hunting, observing and comparing locations with our school.

Autumn

Our topics for this term are 'All about Me' developing onto 'The Weather in the World around Us'. Throughout this term the children will create valuable experiences with their friends, tackle new challenges and become independent learners.  Our topics are developed with the children's interests allowing them to take ownership over their learning.

We have been fortunate to have a visitor to develop our topic this half term. The children explored a range of healthy and unhealthy foods, they even learnt the best way to brush their own teeth!

Robins had the opportunity to explore and compare healthy teeth with unhealthy teeth.

We made our own healthy smiles too!
