Autumn 2 Global Citizen (India)

Autumn 2: Global Citizens (India- Diwali)

This half-term we have been discovering what it means to be a Global Citizen. To help us we have found out about the festival of light, Diwali.

In book explorers we read the story of Rama and Sita, we pretended to be all the different characters to act out the story.

We were able to record words from our favourite part of the story.

We wrote a variety of words from the story such as feared, warrior, rejoiced, reunited and imprisoned.

Can your child tell you what their favourite character in the story was? How did they change their story?

We investigated Rangoli patterns made in Diwali celebrations
we had a go at making my own Rangoli pattern with
triangle, square, semi, circle, diamond and rectangle
We used bright colours.

Miss Duncan and Miss Bird taught us how to dance in a traditional Indian style, we all wore traditional saris and bindi spots. We had lots of fun.

After the children found Sita they build a bridge to help get Sita of the island from the terrible demon king Ravana.
