Spring Will you read me a story?
What an exciting Spring Term we have had! This term our Learning Topic was Read Me a Story…
We explored various texts including Elmer, The Tiger Who Came To Tea and Dear Zoo.
We read the story of Elmer and talked about how Elmer is ‘unique’. We discussed that we are all different and unique.
The children also considered the similarities and differences between Elmer and other Elephants.
We had a go at making our very own Elmer using tissue paper and glue.
The children were curious to learn about what was happening in Austria. We talked about it being very hot and windy which was making the fires spread. We researched the animals that live in Australia and designed an animal rescue center for the animals who were injured to go and recover in. After we designed the building, we used the resources in the outdoor area to build the enclosures.
The Tiger who came to Tea
This story by Judith kerr is a favourite in Rowan class.
The children used various material to make a tiger mark… Roar!
We used descriptive words to describe the tiger such as, orange, black, furry and stripy.
Carrying on with the theme of animals, we looked more closely at animals that live in the zoo.
we wrote some fantastic descriptive writing to describe the animals from the story.
We also enjoyed listening to animal music and moving like the animals from the story.
We made lion art with Miss Bird, she asked us to really concentrate when we cut the straight lines to make the lion mane.
