Welcome to Year 5: Marsh Harriers!
The Year 5 Marsh Harrier's have made a great start to the new school year. We have been learning to develop as writers, advancing our Mathematics and immersing ourselves in Roman life.
We began the term with our Sparkling Start, a trip to Norwich Castle where we learned about the Roman invasion into Britain. We also learned about the inhabitants of Britain in East Anglia at the time, the Iceni tribe, and their leader, the mighty Boudicca.
Our reading and writing skills are developing, with a big focus on the power of language and rich description. We are using better vocabulary in our writing and learning to plan writing to develop more detail and engage the reader.
In Mathematics we have been developing our understanding of place value. We have now applied this to addition, subtraction and multiplication questions with a focus on good written methods.
We have written Roman and Iceni Odes, experimented with rap battles between the two sides and enjoyed an educational visit to Norwich Castle. We have also been studying Greek myths and the various Gods that Romans believed in.
We look forward to more exciting experiences and will keep you informed!
